Jim is a fascinating guy who originally lived in the Chicago area. With a great signal out of northern California, K9YC is often encounterd in contests, but this card commemorates a fun and relaxing CW ragchew.

If recalled correctly, this QSO was made from Vern's truck or just after he got home while monitoring the band from his vehicle. In any case, he was delighted to run across a warm body on the 10-meter band at a time back then when the SFI was low. Given the time of year, it was likely an Es QSO.
